Creating 3D fonts

Hello,

How do you make your text 3D?  As in, instead of flat it has a 3D cube look or round or something like that?  I looked at the text portion of the user manual and didn't see anything about that...

There are several ways to "fake" a 3D look in the GIMP, most of them use the Bump Map filter. Here's some ancient tutorials demonstrating techniques you might find useful:
