problem with brush dynamics

Am I the only one or are there others. The brush dynamics matrix is all greyed out and there is no way to activate it. Maybe Im doing something wrong. I understand that you can either set the brush dynamics preset or set the matrix. Also the curve editor doesnt seem to be working either. HELP!!!

Having exact same problem; it looks like the design intent of the program is for you to adjust, modify and add to brush dynamics, yet it doesn't seem to work. The brush dynamics from version 2.6 were a lot better then this... sorry, but sometimes simpler is better.

I am using the x64 version on Windows 7 HP x64

Did you create a copy of the dynamics? THhe ones that come with GIMP are not editable (same for other resources, e.g. brushes).

OK, just tried this and it works.

Open 'dynamics menu' and duplicate one of the presets then you can access the duplicated preset in 'dynamic menu editor' and do what you want.

Thanks Michael

problem with brush dynamics

I made my own personal one--a new dynamic setting works, too.

The brush dynamics matrix and curve editor also don't work for me.

The solution is the same: duplicate the preset.

Thanks! I did not know how to do that. That works for me as well. Jody

OK, so how do you copy the dynamics? I can't find a "Dynamics Menu" I found the dynamics editor, but its menu has nothing but a checkbox reading "Edit active dynamics".

Hate it when you can't get to step 1.

Sorry, I thought it was pretty obvious that you do it inthe list of brush dynamics presets, not in the editor :)

Stumbled upon it. Paint dynamics is a new dockable diaglog, found under the Windows menu.
