Saving views

I often opt not to make the layer boundaries and guides not visible. However, when I open the file again, the layer boundaries and the guides are visible again. Is it possible to save the view without the layer boundaries and the guides? Or perhaps I could set the default to make the boundaries and guides non-visible?
