Scanning and back to 2.8

My query about the apparent lack of 'Create from Scanner' in 2.10 a week or so back didn't get much feedback. Digitising old photos etc is a major use for me, so until it is present again, I've gone back to 2.8. Sad.. I really liked everything else about 2.10.

Any plans for scanning soon?

gimp-2.10.0 on Tumbleweed openSUSE xsane interface from file drop-down menu works for me.
