32-bit version of 2.10?

I don't see a 32-bit version of 2.10 for Windows at https://www.gimp.org/downloads/

Is GIMP only available for 64-bit OS' now?

In the "mathmap" discussion, someone stated GIMP 2.10 is strictly 64-bit. I was interested in a 32-bit Windows version as well. Oh well, I'll just have to upgrade to a 64-bit version of Windows. :)

Peace...

Tom

I wonder if versions after 2.10 will have 32-bit versions?

It is possible. Will there be a 64 bit version with 32 bit support for plugins as Gimp 2.8.x? - I do not know.

This a portable Gimp 2.10.0 from samj that comes in 64 and 32 bit **separate** installations all in the same 7-zip archive

see: https://samjcreations.blogspot.co.uk/

The download link: http://www.aljacom.com/~gimp/GimpEval-2.10-Win monster 400 MB file.

Thank you Rich. My OS isn't letting me install the 64bit version, so perhaps I'll hope for a future 32bit installable one.

OTOH, what would I sacrifice with a portable version? Would I 'simply' need to learn if there is/how to get my settings and customizations to persist?

The samj portable is big but straight forward.

Unpacking the 7z archive gets several files and folders

There is a 32 bit folder that you copy to your Windows installation.

Inside that are various language 'loaders' to start Gimp.

There is also a folder 'Preferences' which is the equivalent of the Gimp profile. It contains folders for brushes / scripts / plugins etc.

Nothing complicated about running it.

My advice, head across to the gimpchat forum http://gimpchat.com/ several people there using it.

Thanks for the rockin' response, Rich!

I'm so dang busy I think I'll just wait some time, perhaps for a subsequent release, to see if an official installable 32bit version surfaces.

upgraded program crashes (was 32-bit version of 2.10?)

It did indeed properly upgrade 2.82 on my 3b2itWin8.1 PC.

On my 3b2itWin7 PC however, while the install finished, the program crashes on Startup (w/a Windows msg that the program "has stopped working" so it will close program). I tried re-downloading the installer, same issue.

What should I try now? Is there something less drastic than uninstalling completely before re-installing (I'd love to avoid re-customizing the program)?

You can find a combined 32+64-bit 2.10.0 installer here:

I tested that it properly upgrades 2.8.22, and it works as a new install, too.
