command button changes mode

HI. My copy and paste was getting screwed up because the mode changes from replace to subtract using the free select tool. (The shortcut is "command".)

Other problems come up with the smudge tool, and the transform mode changes.

How do you guys handle this situation.

In case you don't get it, I would push command "C" to copy and the mode would change from replace to subtract.

Thank you Terry

It usually switches back as soon as you let go of the modifier key, but there have been reports of that mode getting stuck. Reproducing them has not been successful so far, though.

If you can reproduce this at will, it would be very helpful if you could list the steps to do so. Be precise, as it could matter whether you are using the keyboard, the mouse or a tablet stylus for each step.

Regards,
Michael
