Dark lines

Dark lines
I'm working on coloring a pdf line drawing file. In the original pdf, the lines outlining the window frames can clearly be seen, but when I open the file in Gimp, it shows a thick black line instead (even at a much larger size. Is there any way to correct this?

I requested a new file and for whatever reason, this one opened correctly.
