Saving layers

How do I save a project's layers? I've exported or saved as .psd, .xcf, .jpg. When I open them they have all been flattened! thanks

If you have saved as XCF and the image came out flattened, then either you flattened the image prior to saving or this is a bug and you should file a bug report with a test case.

Saving layers

Most image formats (png, jpg, psd, etc.) have zero support for layers, so when you export to such a format they will become flattened by definition; that is not a bug.

This is why there's a distinction between "Save" and "Export". Save uses GIMP's own format (xcf) which preserves the layer structure. So make sure you are using the proper command for the job.
