palar coordinates filter not working
I'm trying to convert an image to polar coordinates but when I go to the filters menu, the option is grayed out. Any reason this would be happening? I looked it up in the Gimp manual and couldn't find anything.

Yep, that was it! I changed the color mode and now the option to use the polar filter is now available.
best guess,
You image is in indexed colour mode.
Try Image menu -> Mode -> RGB then Filters -> Distorts -> Polar Coordinates
