It's an older gimp version. I hope the gmic vs. gimp issue will be fixed soon.

I think you now it's an older version. For the most recent version you can add ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-standalone. Please note: You need ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp-edge too.

Does it work? Ok! If not you always can fall back to the "latest stable" version, 2.9.5~71-0y0~ppa~00faf17.
