Hi,

I need to increase the sharpness in some of my photographs but I cannot find the "Value" function in the "layers" menu.

Could you let me know where to find it.

Thanks very much in advance.

I wonder what makes you think there is a "Layer>Value" menu entry in Gimp. You must have been reading the wrong manual.

To increase sharpness, see "Filters>Enhance>Sharpen" or the more evolved "Filter>Enhance>Unsharp mask".

See http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-imaging-photos.html#gimp-using-photography-sharpness

I have found The Book of Gimp, by Olivier Lecarme and Karine Delvare to be a marvelous resource, well worth the money for a new GIMPer, especially if you are coming over from the dark side >}:^{D> (Adobe Photoshop).
