Photoshop to Gimp

I had a buddy create me a file in which he used Photoshop. Now when I try to bring it into GIMP, I lose some of the layering and designs he made. Is there a way I can prevent this or a plugin I can use to get this to transfer correctly?

Thanks,

Jeff

Photoshop to Gimp

That depends on the layers used in the original. For example, Photoshop supports non-destructive effects/processing layers such as Curves layers, whereas GIMP does not... yet. Do you know precisely what items are missing on import?
