Antialiasing on GIMP

Hi everybody,

Does anyone have ever heard about the antialiasing problem with GIMP? Since I am on KDE, I can see a green halo around white text and, even after looking around on the web, I didn't anything to solve this problem.

Also, the problem seem to occur since 2012 and still has no solution...

Anybody could help me with this?

Thanks!

I have the hazy memory of Gimp text tool using sub-pixel rendering but as far as I know this has been fixed rather quickly.

What version of Linux, KDE, and Gimp are you using? Can you post a sample image?

Have you installed some package called "fontconfig-infinality"? That's a known problem that many people experienced when installing this package. Even a developer of infinality could reproduce it (see http://www.infinality.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=229). I don't know if they ever fixed it.
Here is our bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708052

Check the screenshots if that looks like your problem, but the "green halo around white text" description seems similar enough. :-) There is no solution from us. This is a third party package, which is not even our upstream (because we base ourselves on fontconfig, not fontconfig-infinality).

Jehan

Thanks!

Nope. KDE users still complain about that.

Well, I am a KDE user... But still on Gimp 2.8.2 (stock from the Kubuntu 12.10 repos)
