This discussion is connected to the gimp-user-list.gnome.org mailing list which is provided by the GIMP developers and not related to gimpusers.com.

sounds daft but ...

Just moved to latest version, all seems OK but when I start GIMP it starts up OK, then takes itself to the taskbar, thinks about it and then stops, does not actually load up. Suspect it's me, but anyone got any ideas?

You provide very little information for one to make *any* guess. I assume you are on windows per "taskbar", but ...

Try opening gimp in a command window and see if any errors are reported there, ie: from the command-line.

That doesn't work on Windows, but you can get the console output if it's run with --verbose (edit the shortcut, add --verbose to the end of command line).
