Gimp won't start (Oxc000007b)

Running Windows 8 on new laptop. Downloaded Gimp 2.8. Solved the dll issue, and now Gimp won't start (Oxc000007b). No clue how to solve this. Any help is appreciated.

What DLL issue?

This one: libgimp-2.0-0.dll "missing" from computer. But that's solved now. It' the Gimp won't start (Oxc000007b) that I can't solve now.

This is not commonly known as a problem. What did you do to fix it?

Where did you download Gimp from?

From the link on the gimp.org website? Some other website?

I ask because there are sites on the net serving unapproved versions, some of which are tweaked in unfriendly ways.

Ok, so this is where any useful attempt to fix further GIMP problems on your system is doomed.

Remove this file from the system32 directory again. What you did was sabotaging your GIMP install, maybe even your whole system.

When you are back to the missing DLL problem, then please post what this is showing you, then we can attempt to fix this instead of wreaking havoc on your system.
