running gmic in windows 7-64bit gives

When I tried to run gmic_gimp.exe that is a part of gmic_gimp_win64.zip, a dialog box popped up with a libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll not found error.

According to http://registry.gimp.org/node/26260#comment-14795, It seems like the issue is caused by the gmic_gimp.exe looking for libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll in Program Files (x86), The 32bit directory instead of the 64bit directory.

I realize the link is not for gmic, but I believe its related to the problem.

I Downloaded Gimp 2.8.0 RC1, but that doesn't correct the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Stephen

Don't run the file - put it in
C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins

Just to expand. Make sure these from the zip are in the plugins folder. Including that _gmic sub folder.

_gmic/curl.exe gmic_gimp.exe
libfftw3-3.dll
libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll
libpng15-15.dll
libstdc++-6.dll
pthreadGC2.dll

Then as before you do not run it, G'mic filters should be right at the bottom of the filters menu and will be 'greyed out' until an image is open. Should work, otherwise ask G'mic

Thanks.

I put the files in the C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins folder. Putting them in the .gimp-2.8\plug-ins folder in the Users directory doesn't work.

What's the difference between the two folders? When should I use one over the other?

Do not put these files anywhere, unless you want to break future GIMP versions - they're redistributed with GIMP.

Woops.. I copied those files into the plugin folder. I'll delete them. Also, there was one other, libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll, which I will also delete.

Thanks.

I mentioned that one. I left out libfftw3-3.dll, because that's not shipped with GIMP currently.
