cpu usage of xscanimage and xsane, guides and gimp-perl

I just upgraded my box to SuSE 9.1 which has GIMP 2.0 and the sane stuff does work, but it really eats up the cpu. Anyone seen similar problems? Starting xsane or xsanimage standalone does the same thing, so it's not a GIMP thing.

Kernel: 2.6.4

On another note, I don't seem to find some of the tools I rely on such as the guides menu and perlotine. I've noted that there is no gimp-perl available for SuSE 9.1 Is there a functional gimp-perl for 2.0 GIMP?
