I've a Graphire2, basically, it is the same behaviour, even if I've not the tilt ;-)

Go to File -> Preferences -> Input Devices Click Configure Extended input Devices You have a list with Stylus / Eraser / Pointer and you can choose for each of them Disabled, Screen or Window (I suggest Screen)

Then you can choose the Axes... The default values should be fine. With my Graphire, I've the pressure working.

Check this site: http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/

Most of the work you'll need to do will be with the X11 configuration and drivers. X, probably, is not reading and passing along the tilt and pressure information yet.

Once you've got X configured, all you'll need to do in GIMP is tweak the "Input Devices" dialog if it's not reading your tablet correctly.

The prerequisite for the availability of the "Configure Extended Input Devices" dialog is that your copy of GTK+ was compiled with xinput support. Most distributors seem to enable this feature by default when building the gtk+-2.0 package, but not all do.

I have read at the web, that gimp1.x doesn't support the tilt feature. I dont know that gimp2.0 does it.(It not seems to work)

Otherwise thanks to the instructions ... The pressure seems to work.

I have another problems using the wacom tablet: Can I configure the buttons of pen and mouse?

And can I change the resolution of my tablet? This is my biggest problem.
I have bought an A4 oversize. This is a big tablet(i had an excellent price for it).

So my system(And so gimp too) had matched my screen(1024*768) to my tablet active area(300mm*300mm), so it would be great to change the tablet-resolution. At the moment is it a bit uncomfortable, that I have to move the pen a lot to get a minor movement of the cursor on the screen.

At the end: I have at the top of my tablet some ,,menu area'' It is useable with gimp?

Hi!

Most of the work you'll need to do will be with the X11 configuration and drivers. X, probably, is not reading and passing along the tilt and pressure information yet.

I run 0.6.2 stable release of linuxwacom. My tablet is a serial tablet(wacom intuos 2 serial DTP).

The utility wacdump (wacdump /dev/ttyS1) are displaying the tilt information, and this feature is working on the table.

The utility xidump read all the information from the X server(if I have good understood the manual). And it looks, that X passes the tilt information to the application.

Here is the output from xidump: InputDevice: stylus
Valuators: Absolute Axes: 6 Buffer: 0

The ink tool uses the tilt information and it did this in gimp-1.2 already.

I use an Intuos tablet with GIMP 1.2 (I've got GIMP 2.0 on different machines). GIMP reads the tilt information with both the ink pad and for image pipes. Some early Wacom X drivers mistranslated the tilt information, but those drivers were fixed years ago.

It's important to note that tilt records the angle of the pen in respect to the tablet. For instance, if you hold the pen perpendicular to the tablet, that is a 90 degree tilt. If you hold the pen almost parallel, like you might if you were drawing with charcoal, that's almost a 0 degree tilt.

But, for instance, if you rolled the stylus in your hands without changing the grip, the tilt doesn't change.
