New brushes not working*

I don't know why, but the new brushes that I downloaded (and they are made for
gimp, I got them from free gimp brush sites)aren't working. I can't even
scroll through the brushes. As soon as I click the scrollbar the whole brush
dialog box closes. And unlike all of the default brushes that have a little,
green, triangular arrow at their bottom right, all of the newly uploaded
brushes have a + sign at their bottom right.

I can use the ones that are showing with the default brushes, but I can't
scroll down to any of the others.
After I try a couple of times to scroll through the brushes and the box
refusing and closing, Gimp shuts down completely.
If anyone knows what's wrong and how to help, I'd appreciate it very much!
Thank you!

It would help, if you could point us to this brushes, that would make
it easier to reproduce the problem. And then telling us more about
your system (operating system, gimp version...) would help even more.

Tobias

Ok. I am using the newest version of Gimp. I got the brushes from these
websites:
http://www.noupe.com/gimp/1000-free-high-resolution-gimp-brushes.html
I got some of the grunge ones, the snowflakes, glitter/sparklies, and florals
from here.
I got brushes form here:
http://free-brushes.com/

I am using windows xp. I tried shutting the computer down and starting it up
again and that didn't fix anything. I have downloaded all of these same
brushes before on a different computer and they always worked fine then. I
think though that I might've been using them on an older version of gimp. 2.4
or something like that.

I have the exact same problem after having installed
GIMP 2.6.9.

The problems cant have anything to do with new istalled brushes since it also
occures with a fresh instal.

In the menu for the brushes. Theonly way to scrol is using a mouse scroll
button. The Scroll buttons just dont work. not with a regular mouose nor an
input device pen.

If someone knows what to do i would love to hear because this is realy sucky
(^.^)
