GIMP error?

GIMP error?

After nstalling GIMP 2.8.22 on OS Sierra 10.12.6 It opens as a small window with starting extentions, then it transforms into a big white window GNU image manipulation program. I do not see any single or multi-windows as it shown in the figure 3.2 on the screenshot in your tutorial Why so? Thanks^ Alex
