light and shadow/drop shadow with GEGL

Hello,
I tried the latest version 2.9.2 GIMP and I noticed that it would be great if we could have the option to create a new layer beneath the one that is active whenever I use: light and shadow / drop shadow that use GEGL. Thank you for your great work.
