Launchpad?

Hi,

I just had a look at Launchpad (https://launchpad.net/) today and was thinking about using it for gimp-help. Bug reports can be still handled via the GNOME bugtracker. Additionally we can set milestones and features for our project. What do you guys think? Maybe a few of you are already registered and have experience with it?

Greetings,

Launchpad is not bug free and it inherenlty works with .po files. I think that it is a bit too early to talk about adopting Lpd without even had started the transition to a full .po manual structure in-place.

IMHO

Well, Launchpad features additional tools than Rosetta, the system for the Translation. It would be usefull to manage open bugs and features for future milestones. Thats why Launchpad came to my mind - not only for translation support.

Why don't you just ask for a bugzilla product for gimp-help on bugzilla.gnome.org?

That would be needed anyways I guess, to distinguish the bugs filed for GIMP and the manual. Having a tracker to manage milestones and the specific bugs for it would be usefull as well ...

Are there any Launchpad features you'd like to use now that are not available in Bugzilla? Target milestones are, just in case you didn't know.

While you're saying that, having the bugs listed for the manual independently from GIMP would be a good start.

It just would be helpfull to manage bugs for future releases. Just to keep in mind what is missing and what should be done. Managing it through a WIKI page can become kind of cumbersome...

Thanks for the feedback!

You can do that already.

You can also already do that with bugzilla.gnome.org.

I would still welcome if gimp-help would get it's own bugzilla product. If only to reduce the number of bugs on the gimp product ;-)

Hi,

some links that you may find useful:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?&product=GIMP&component=Help

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?product=GIMP&component=Helps&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&bug_status=NEEDINFO

Still, what about adding a dedicated bugzilla product for the user manual? That would improve handling of versions and milestones for you.

Thanks for the links. I filed a bug report to create a bugzilla product:
